□ JR 동일본 신칸센 기장이 되는 자격요건

 

Although the qualification to become a shinkansen driver differs from company to company, most require applicants to already have a license to drive regular trains. At JR East, new employees generally first become a conductor for at least two years, after which they may choose to train as a driver.

신칸센 기장이 되기 위한 자격은 비록 JR회사마다 다르지만, 대부분 일반열차를 운전할 수 있는 면허증을 이미 소지한 지원자들을 필요로 한다. JR 동일본에서, 신규 직원은 일반적으로 처음에 적어도 2년 동안 차장이 되고, 이후에 열차기관사가 되는 방법을 선택할 수 있다.

 

"Getting your license to drive trains is very similar to getting your driver's license," -- "but maybe a bit harder."

기관사 면허증을 취득하는 법은 자동차 운전면허 취득절차와 매우 흡사하다. 하지만, 자동차 운전면허보다 훨씬 어려울지도 모른다.

 

A nationally recognized accreditation overseen by the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport, the shinkansen driver's license requires trainees to pass an aptitude test, a test to become a learner driver, a written test, and then, finally, a technical-ability test.

일본 국토교통성에서 국가적으로 인증된 신칸센 기장 자격증 필요요건은 교육생들이 적성검사, 임시면허 운전자가 되는 시험, 필기시험, 그리고 마지막으로 기술기량시험을 통과해야 한다.

 

JR East has around 8,100 train drivers of all categories on its books, with some 400 qualifying every year. New drivers normally spend at least a couple of years on regular trains before being considered for the shinkansen. Then, to get their license, they must follow a similar course to that for their regular license, though the aptitude test is stiffer.

JR 동일본에는 매년 400명 정도 일반열차 기관사 자격요건이 되는 이들이 있고, 대략 8100명의 열차기관사가 있다. 신규 기관사들은 신칸센 운전을 하기 위한 자격이 되기 전에 일반적으로 일반열차를 2~3년 정도 운전한다. 그리고 나서 면허증을 취득하고, 정규 기관사 면허시험과 같이 유사한 과정을 따라야 한다. 신칸센 적성검사는 더 엄격하다.

 

JR East has 350 shinkansen drivers, with about 20 new ones qualifying each year. Trainees, aged from their 20s to their 40s, spend six months on the conversion course, learning everything about the shinkansen, from its structure to actually driving it with an instructor.

JR 동일본에는 350명의 신칸센 기장들이 있고, 매년 약 20명의 신칸센 운전자격이 되는 기관사들이 있다. 교육생들의 나이는 20대에서 40대 사이이고, 전환코스 기간이 6개월 정도 걸린다. 이 기간 동안 신칸센의 구조부터 관리감독자와 실제 운전을 하기까지 신칸센 전반적인 것에 대해 배운다.

"Although the training and the examination are very difficult, the applicants are extremely skilled drivers as well."

신칸센 기장 지원자 중 70% 이상이 신칸센 시험에 최종합격한다. 비록 훈련과 시험이 매우 어렵지만, 지원자들은 최고의 기량을 갖춘 기장이 된다.

 

 

□ JR 서일본 신칸센 기장이 되기 위한 자격요건

 

To become a shinkansen driver, the path is:

2 years as station staff, 2 years as a conductor, and a number of years as a driver of 1067mm gauge (zairaisen)trains.

JR 서일본 신칸센 기장이 되기 위해서는 다음과 같다.

역무원경력 2년, 차장경력 2년, 그리고 1067m궤간 열차 기관사 수년의 경력.
